Koi Predators
Koi fish are very colorful and look very tasty to some animals. The Koi's natural predator - the cat find Koi delicious and is one that Koi is not able to get away from. There are other predators of this amazing colorful fish that you may not be aware of.
The Heron - Koi fish will periodically fall victim to a winged species. As they are a very colorful fish, birds are able find this very tasty treat from afar. They can land near the pond, sneak up to an unexpecting Koi and snap them up very quickly. To some, the Heron is an awesome sight, but to the Koi breeder, it strikes fear into their hearts.

To avoid your Koi becoming the next sumptious dinner to a pesty Heron, the solution is simple - a decoy. That's right, you need to make the Koi Fish's predator feel unwelcome by placing a predator of the heron nearby.
A visual scare could be in the form of a fake alligator's head in the pond, or maybe a scarecrow nearby. Another idea is to place decoy Koi fish near the surface of the pond. When a Heron comes knocking at your pond, it warns the real Koi of the danger that is present and gives them enough time to go hide.
Don't let your Koi fish become victims to its predators. The next one to go might be your favourite or the most expensive. Act now and place decoys or visual scares around your pond.
